The Papillon Rose Complete Collection DVD should be available in various places by now if you didn't get your copy early from Rightstuf due to the fact that they shipped theirs out something like two weeks ago. There's good, bad, and sad involved with this release. It does not have the extras listed on the websites selling it, in fact it appears to be a copy of the Japanese box set which was plagued with copyright issues involving the music by Koike Masaya for the New Season TV series. The opening and ending songs for the TV series were replaced with the ones from the OVA, and some information on the credits have been blurred out. The episodes are also the TV airing versions, which should be censored during transformation sequences (and episode 3 will have poor animation quality), however this is still the only way to get the episodes subtitled in English, and that alone makes the box set well worth the price! The OVA episode in the collection is unaffected by any of this.
What this information about the English box set means is that there's still a reason for people to go out and buy the single releases of the first three DVDs from Japan. You can find these through places like CDJapan. Please be aware that the Papillon Rose New Season DVD Box listed on CDJapan (and anywhere else) is the exact same content wise as the English release! Buying it will only get you a different box/DVD case, and the episodes spread across three DVDs instead of one
Contents of the Japanese Single Release DVDs
• One Papillon Rose New Season episode per DVD.
• TV airing version of the Papillon Rose New Season episode on the DVD.
• Uncensored/extended DVD version of the Papillon Rose New Season episode on the DVD.
• Papillon Rose New Season episode 3's DVD version has higher quality animation than the TV airing version.
• DVD covers showcase one Papillon senshi each (First is Papillon Rose, second is Papillon Lily, third is Papillon Margarette)
• Each DVD contains a Totsugeki Papillon Channel live action extra with the cosplay Papillon Senshi for Rose, Lily and Margarette (they are amusing).
• Each DVD case contains an eight page color booklet containing information about the monster from the episode, interviews with the cast/characters, and parody advertising (in Japanese of course).
• These DVDs aren't touched by the copyright issue that hit the box set, the opening and endings are still in place.
